April showers bring the May flowers…but in my closet they bring Balenciaga Men’s Day bags in full bloom. ☔🌷
What started as one innocent little bag somehow multiplied into a full‑blown bouquet. I’ve always loved the Men’s Day — that effortless slouch, that easy crossbody strap, that “I’m casual but still Balenciaga” attitude. And despite the name, it’s as unisex as it gets; I grab it whenever I want something lightweight, hands‑free, and still serving motorcycle‑bag energy.
As of today, eleven Men’s Day bags are hanging side‑by‑side like a colorful little rain shower of joy. And yes… I accidentally ended up with two black ones after convincing myself one was gray. My Balenciaga brain clearly has selective vision.

This is a surprisingly simple storage solution, but these acrylic closet handbag hangers work incredibly well for this setup if you have this style or something similar.
About the Balenciaga Men’s Day
The Men’s Day (style 141175) debuted in the Spring/Summer 2005 collection during the Nicolas Ghesquière era of Balenciaga’s iconic motorcycle bags.
Originally designed with men in mind, the relaxed silhouette and long adjustable strap make it an easy, truly unisex carry. It sits comfortably crossbody, which is one of the reasons it’s remained an all‑time favorite in my collection.
The early first‑edition Men’s Day bags (the only versions I currently own) feature:
- a thick adjustable leather strap attached at both sides
- signature long leather tassels
- silver‑toned classic hardware
- the same soft, slouchy construction as the original Day bag
Around F/W 2009, Balenciaga introduced small design updates: studs were removed from the leather straps and added to the bottom front corners, tassels became shorter, and the strap design was subtly refined. These later versions carry style number 223409.
Additional minor tweaks followed in later years, but through every update, the Men’s Day stayed one of the more understated silhouettes in the motorcycle family – essentially a slightly more streamlined cousin to the classic Day.
And despite the name, the “Men’s” Day fits women just as effortlessly.
My Men’s Day Collection
Here are the eleven Men’s Day bags currently in my lineup. Most are made from chevre leather, which in my opinion remains peak Balenciaga. Now let’s dive into the good stuff.
Black #1

One of two black Men’s Day bags in my lineup, a happy accident after mistaking one for gray. This one runs just a shade darker than Black #2. 🖤
Black #2

The sneaky faded black that tricked me at checkout and has been pretending to be my dark gray ever since. 😝
F/W 2005 Chocolate

Forget the candies! This is the kind of rich, saturated Chocolate I actually crave. Early Balenciaga decadence. 🍫
F/W 2005 Bordeaux

This rich shade took years to find, but the drama and depth were worth the wait. 🍷
S/S 2009 Sanguine

A vibrant pop of red with orange undertones. This bag does all the talking so you don’t have to. 🔥
F/W 2005 Olive

If Nicolas Ghesquière ever had a favorite forest, I’m convinced it was this shade of Olive. Rich, earthy, and moody in that “I’m understated but still the moment” way only early Balenciaga could pull off. 🫒
S/S 2008 Vert Thym / Sage Green

This lighter shade of green is pure spring energy — calm, fresh, and quietly flexing.🌿
S/S 2007 Black Linen with Green Leather Trim

One of the more unusual Day bags I own. This limited-edition version combines black linen with a distressed green leather trim and chrome hardware, giving it a very different vibe compared to the rest of the collection.
S/S 2005 Teal

An unforgettable and recognizable Balenciaga blue shade that stands out among the neutral colors that Men’s Days typically are produced in.
S/S 2005 Taupe

Taupe is a fantastic neutral that pairs well with just about anything.
F/W 2008 Argent (Light Gray)

Argent finishes up the roster with a soft toned gray that works wonderfully as the lightest shade in my Days arrangement.

The Collection Continues
What started as one Men’s Day bag has turned into a full‑on storm in my closet, and I’ve got a feeling there are still a few sprinkles on the way. 🌧️ With another surprise Men’s Day incoming, this little collection is about to hit a dozen and if history tells us anything, the forecast isn’t clearing up anytime soon. 😅
Luckily for me, Balenciaga didn’t release the Men’s Day in every shade of the rainbow the way they did with the women’s line. 🌈 Still, with another pop‑up shower forming, I’ll keep the umbrella handy and circle back soon with an updated report. ☂️
UPDATE: And as promised, the forecast did shift again — the next chapter of this storm picks up right here.
✌️♥️👜
